The Story:

A local, family owned business has created something memorable for those who have grown fond of the World’s Largest Hockey Stick and Puck, to keep forever. The cost of preservation of this item was too much for the CVRD and after community consultation, decided it was time to offer it up. Being in the business of preserving memories and moments in time, Genuine Collectibles Inc. jumped into action.

A local operation, Genuine Collectibles Inc.’s product line A PIECE OF THE ACTION® uses Vancouver Island owned businesses and services and in-store hand assembly to make their products come to life. Our business, Wild Coast Creative, designed the packaging and engraving, Westside Instaprint prints the Certificates of Authenticity for the keychains, while WolfWorks Designs carefully engraves each stick piece.

When the stick was removed, they relied on Island Drone Service to document the historical moment as well as many Vancouver Island businesses and companies to ensure the safety and security of the removal and transportation of the stick. Involved in the move were Maxwell’s Auto Center, M.R. Crane Services, Competition Tree Service, TRT Contracting / Coastal Trucking, G&G Roofing, Commissionaires, Rockridge Inc., Bert’s Enterprises, United Rentals and Super Save Group Fencing.

Knowing this item contains many memories of for basically anyone driving through Duncan between 1988 and 2024, Owners of Genuine Collectibles Inc. Bart and Colleen, wanted to be able to keep that memory alive for anyone that wanted to keep a piece. Whether you wanted to remind your loved one of the time spent either at Expo ’86, or in or around the Duncan area over the last 40 years or have a keepsake for yourself, now you can keep it close to you forever.
